TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE?
If political parties are corrupt and
vote machines change the count, why bother?
An analysis by G. Edward Griffin
2004 December 8

Now that the elections are over and especially as evidence continues to mount regarding electronic vote fraud via computerized vote machines, an old question has come back with a vengeance: Why bother voting at all? The following email is a typical expression of this dispair:

Hello Mr. Griffin,
Thanks for the e-mail. I enjoy your Reality Zone e-letters and am planning to buy some of your books soon. In this issue below, [the video entitled Invisible Ballots] you write about the endangerment of the vote due to electronic voting, which as we know can be manipulated by vested interests. However, I have taken a different view when it comes to voting. I see it as simply a horrible hoax that has been perpetrated on the unsuspecting masses. My belief is this: “If voting effected change, it would be banned.” Votes rarely if ever effect any real or meaningful change, as history shows. In fact, if anything, the mere choice of Democrats or Republicans should be signal enough to thinking people that they are nothing more than two sides of the same coin. They really are the same but given the illusion of being different. It’s the divide-and-rule operation. It really doesn’t matter which party forms the Administration, the policies remain the same with only cosmetic differences (smoke and mirrors) enough to fool and confuse the people. A shadowy puppeteer behind the scenes makes the rules. Having written The Creature from Jekyll Island, I think you understand that what we are dealing with is “their system” which was never intended to work for us. How, then, can the people win? I watched the whole Republican conference charade off and on and just got ill with the realization that the vast majority of the sleep-walking public is swallowing all the hokum, hook, line and sinker.
Regards,
Eileen

Eileen has raised some important issues; and, unfortunately, much of what she says is true. However, declining to vote is not the solution. In fact, it is merely another step in retreat toward ultimate surrender. I am fully aware of the show-biz conflict between Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. and similar stage performances in other countries. However, the vote is our only mechanism for peaceful and constitutional reform. If we walk away from it, then all that is left is violent revolution. In my opinion, this is not a realstic strategy for victory. I am not unmindful that most tyrannies of history have been overthrown only by force of arms, but the power of modern weapons and the tools of mind control that now are in the hands of collectivists in power have changed the equations. This is especially true in light of recent popular aversion to ownership of firearms. In my opinion, an armed-citizen uprising today would have zero chance of success and would only lead to one of the greatest bloodbaths of history.

I would be willing to throw myself against vastly superior forces in a staked battle to defend my freedom and that of my family, but that would be a last resort. If there is any course that offers even the smallest chance of success other than that, I will pursue it with all my strength. I am not interested in waiting until there is no other option. This is why I believe we must keep the vote in place and participate in it to keep the concept alive while we educate and organize for peaceful reform. That's the goal of Freedom Force. In the meantime, we can still have influence over candidates for local office, school boards, judges, and local spending projects. Freedom is too precious to abandon just because we are presently outmaneuvered. We must never give up the struggle while there is any chance for victory.
